Practitioner Types: Physiotherapist (chartered)

Profile

Lauren began her journey into physiotherapy in 2012, during which she simultaneously completed a Master’s degree in dance science with a focus on sport and exercise psychology, and assisted the lead physiotherapist for Scottish Ballet.

After graduating from an MSc in Physiotherapy from Aberdeen, Scotland, she began working within the NHS, specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Throughout this time, Lauren developed her experience in treating a myriad of conditions by working as a freelance physiotherapist with Scottish Ballet and in a private practice specialising in back pain. She has also attended conferences worldwide (including IADMS and Physios in Sport's 'Hypermobility and Control') in order to enhance her comprehension of physiotherapy for diverse athletes and performers.

Lauren has extensive training in multiple dance forms including ballet, contemporary, hip hop, Argentine tango, swing, blues, and salsa. Combining this with a broad educational background, has resulted in a heightened understanding of the physical and psychological impacts of high performance demands on the human body.

Her special interests lie within injury prevention and rehabilitation of performing artists and athletes and she utilises astute observational skills to thoroughly assess biomechanical disparities and altered movement patterns for all manner of clientele.
